Sunny Days are Happy days! A Guide to get Tan
By Dstiteler
Hello! Have you been dying to get a perfect, beautiful tan, but you end up turning orange or golden? Tanning can be very difficult to get right, bu with the right tanning method, you should get a perfect even tan in no time!
The Science of Tanning
When UVA rays hit the skin, your skin releases melanin. Melanin is what appears to make your skin tan. UVA rays can cause melanoma, which is a severe form of skin cancer, so it is not recommended to tan year round. UVA rays, in high levels, can cause you to age faster, too.
UVB rays is more likely to sunburn you, but is easily blocked by sunscreen. UVB rays also causes aging a lot slower and produce vitamin D for the skin. UVB rays can cause moles an some types of skin cancer.
Tanning Salons
Tanning salons are becoming more and more popular these days. Tanning salons offer a wide variety of ways to get tan such as tanning beds, tanning booths, and tanning lotion. Tanning beds are beds that you lay down in. They are lined with several 100 to 200 watt light bulbs that can turn off and on. These are what cause you to get tan.
Risks
Tanning beds do come with risks, too.Overexposure to ultraviolet radiation is known to make skin age and wrinkle faster, mutate and reduce the immune system, as well as other possible effects. There is no proof that these side effect are worse from tanning in a tanning bed or sunbed than from the Sun, due to the different intensity of the Sun and spectrum of the artificial light
Tannin Lotions
Tanning lotions amplify the affects of the sun. They contain ingredients that promote melanin production. Most tanning lotions also contain bronzers, which makes your skin tan without UVA rays. The downside to bronzers is that they can make you look orange or golden. They also don't last very long and when they start to fade, they peel off in an uneven fashion. I personally do not recommend heavy use of bronzers.
Sun Tanning
Sun tanning is getting tan using the sun. Sun tanning often takes the longest amount of time to get tan. Sun tanning also has risks such as cancer and sun burns. When sun tanning, you should wear tanning lotion. Sun tanning will take about 5 days to get a nice even tan.
Day 1: 20 minutes each side
Day 2: 35 minutes each side
Day 3: 50 minutes each side
Day 4: 60 minutes each side
Day 5: 60 minutes each side.
How long will my tan last?
Your tan will last until the cells that were tanned die off. Your tan will probably last a few weeks, unless you shower too much. Everytime you shower, you get rid of skin cells. When you get of tanned skin cells, your tan will start to fade. Applying lotion twice a day will help mosturize the skin, which will keep your tan longer.
Good luck tanning!
